Football Coach
Before
training, from 2015 to 2016, the women's A-team of the Wydad Casablanca club,
one of the leading teams of Morocco, Lamia Boumehdi was a soccer player. She
says proudly: "I started to play at a very young age in Berrechid, my
hometown, in a women's club created especially by my mother in 1997 before
facing, years later, some excellent
football players", including during
competitions abroad, in Norway and in Italy. Meanwhile, she became one of the stars of the
Atlas Lionesses. In 2000, at
seventeen, she played the African Cup in South Africa. But at twenty-six, a bad ligament injury forced her
to stop playing: "It is a painful memory. Every champion knows this feeling. It was a real catastrophe for my career as a
football player”, she said still feeling emotional. She underwent two operations in vain. Now, she is training women's teams. But the dreams of this football fan are even
greater:
"Taking the reins of the
national women's football team and, why not ?, becoming the first female coach
of an elite men's team. In any
case, she cannot imagine her future away from the world of football, her
passion. A great
example for all the little girls who are passionate about this sport.
